I have worked with Janet Dakey for 13 years as I transitioned from an education writer to a college and graduate school admissions advisor. Back then, she was only starting to take on freelance work.

During the first version of my Web site, we even looked at colors of school notebooks to pick out colors that would pop among sites that had similar content. As my career has transitioned, Janet has been the designer of four versions of my Web site, helped me with many design and social media issues, and designed the stationary and business cards for my practice. At one point she transitioned my business cards to a more expensive printer, but urged me to do so. Their quality was so much better. She was right, and I have re-ordered from that printer since then.

Janet has been more than a great designer. She is a nice person, very smart, and a very good listener. She patiently answers all of my questions in a way that I can quickly understand her recommendations. Janet quickly understood what I was trying to accomplish as a writer and a business person and designed a site that represents me and my work very well. She has never let me down on a deadline or her work. Whenever she has recommendation, even when she disagreed with my first thoughts, I trusted her judgement and never regretted it.

I have recommended Janet to at least three other people who hired her, one who is a professional colleague, one who is my younger brother who sought political office, and one who developed and managed a site that supports college baseball recruiting. All of these people felt the same as I did about Janet and her work.

I would not hire anyone else to work with me as a designer.
